Job summary

Chainguard is the trusted source for open source. This Staff Software Engineer role focuses on building and operating Chainguard's malware detection platform, ensuring reliable artifacts for customers and scalable, high-throughput pipelines.

You will own architecture, scale, and reliability, collaborating with Product Security to translate threat research into fast, accurate detections across libraries, containers, and agent skills. This is a backend/production-infrastructure leadership role.

Qualifications

• Multiple years building and operating production backend or infrastructure systems.
• Strong Go experience or deep backend systems experience.
• Experience owning technical platforms that support multiple products or internal customers.
• Experience with high-throughput, event-driven pipelines where latency and correctness matter.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture of Chainguard's scanner platform and its APIs.
• Scale the malware scanning platform beyond current products and artifact types.
• Drive detection quality with metrics, dashboards, and faster feedback loops.
• Build and scale analysis including deterministic static analysis and AI-assisted reasoning.
• Partner with Product Security to move detections from research to production across ecosystems.
