Job summary

ThinkOn Inc. is expanding its Infrastructure Planning & Implementation team. This entry-level role as an IT Network Technician will be the first line of defense for our network—monitoring alerts, handling the ticket queue, and ensuring data centre devices stay healthy.

You’ll learn from senior engineers and gradually take on more complex tasks. We seek solid networking fundamentals (Network+ or equivalent), strong follow-through, and the persistence to see issues through to resolution.

Qualifications

  • College diploma, degree, or technical certificate in Networking, IT, Computer Systems, or related field.
  • Eligibility to obtain Secret Level Clearance as of day one (requires 10+ years of residency in Canada and Canadian Citizenship).
  • CompTIA Network+ or equivalent certification, or demonstrable knowledge.
  • Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, routing and switching.
  • Comfort with the command line and SSH into devices.
  • Understanding of physical infrastructure: copper vs fibre, patch panels, racks and power.
  • Proven ability to follow through and chase open items until resolved.
  • Clear written communication; write ticket updates and vendor correspondence daily.
  • Attention to detail; avoid wrong port numbers in requests.
  • Willingness to ask questions and work independently in remote environment.
  • Composure under pressure; methodical when outages occur.
  • Self-direction in a remote environment; manage own queue and time.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor alerts and triage first-level issues using monitoring tools.
  • Open trouble tickets with carriers and data centre staff; track progress.
  • Coordinate hardware RMAs and installations with data centres.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for devices and circuits.
  • Write clear remote hands instructions and ensure proper verification.
  • Escalate issues to network engineers when beyond scope; meet SLA targets.
