Job summary

Empire Life is seeking a Business Analyst to join the Group Solutions team, combining analysis with delivery leadership in a hybrid/remote setting in Canada. The role emphasizes capturing business requirements, validating solutions, and guiding product delivery through Empire’s framework.

You will collaborate with leadership and SMEs to elicit requirements, perform gap analysis, and ensure alignment with stakeholder objectives.

Qualifications

• Post secondary degree or diploma and/or equivalent work experience.
• 3-5+ years experience in Business Analyst role.
• Insurance industry experience is an asset.
• Digital and Direct to customer market experience is an asset.
• 2+ years experience working in Scrum based teams and creation of User Stories.
• Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks or project.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member as required.
• Flexibility to adapt in a fast paced, changing environment.
• Ability to build relationships across the organization.
• Effectively communicate across the organization.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at senior levels.
• Ability and willingness to mentor, coach and train junior members.

Responsibilities

• Communications with business leadership to ensure proper capture of Business Requirements.
• Ensuring solutions delivered meet stakeholder objectives with manual validation techniques.
• Use Empire’s Product Delivery Framework, our internal best practices in the delivery of solutions.
• Provide gap analysis and make recommendations to stakeholders on potential solutions to address business needs.
• Elicit requirements leveraging experience and discretion to apply an appropriate mix of approaches.
• Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
• Coaching new members of the team on the Product Delivery Framework.
• Lead Scrum Ceremonies and the delivery of smaller initiatives, as required.
