Job summary
TELUS Digital is seeking an AI Speech & Audio Specialist to advance speech AI technologies including ASR, TTS, and Voice AI. You will evaluate AI-generated speech for naturalness and accuracy, review ASR outputs, and perform advanced audio editing and dataset validation. This is a remote, contractor role within TELUS Digital’s global community.
The role emphasizes linguistic expertise, phonetics, and audio engineering to improve AI voice experiences for diverse languages and contexts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Audio Engineering, Sound Engineering, Music Technology, Phonetics, Speech-Language Pathology, CS (Speech/AI focus) or related field.
- Professional experience in voice recording is acceptable.
- Experience with professional audio tools (DAWs) preferred.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate AI-generated speech (TTS) for naturalness, pronunciation, rhythm and tone.
- Review and improve ASR outputs by identifying transcription and linguistic issues.
- Perform audio editing tasks: segmentation, trimming, noise reduction, silence adjustment, quality enhancement.
- Analyze recordings using waveform and spectrogram-based tools to identify quality issues.
- Support creation and validation of high-quality speech datasets for model training.
