Job summary

Fraser Health Authority is seeking a Relief Part Time Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Operating Room team at Surrey Memorial Hospital in Surrey, BC. The role includes scrubbing and circulating duties, direct nursing care, and coordination with physicians and anaesthetists.

The position requires BC RN registration, a nursing degree, and at least one year of recent OR clinical experience. A supportive team and comprehensive benefits are offered under Fraser Health.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing.
• Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the BCCNM.
• One year's recent clinical nursing experience in the designated area.

Responsibilities

• Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care; identifies problems and plans interventions.
• Receives and admits patients to the OR; coordinates nursing care per orders and policies; sets priorities.
• Participates in risk reduction and patient advocacy to protect autonomy, privacy and dignity.
• Modifies care as needs change and initiates immediate treatment if required.
• Prepares and positions supplies and equipment for surgery; reports needed repairs.
• Follows count policy and documents appropriately; performs scrub and circulation duties.
• Collects information to support nursing decisions; participates in quality improvement and research.
• Engages in orientation, education and mentorship of staff and students.
