Business Overview
The Configuration and Release Services Department enforces software development best practices at Fidelity Investments Canada by making sure source code is archived and tested prior to install on production. We provide software builds and deployments of various applications to both the test and production environments.
How You’ll Make an Impact
The Release Analyst provides quality Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) and Release Management services to the Fidelity IS Division, ensuring timely release deliveries throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). This position involves participation / knowledge in / of all applications supported by Configuration & Release.
What You Will Do
- Coordinate with QA team on code promotions.
- Build applications according to patch instructions provided by DEV team.
- Minimize application outage during deployment.
- Minimize issues that result from deployment to various environments.
- Implement and ensure ongoing compliance with all IT policies and procedures.
- Automate all application build and deploy processes
- Work with DEV teams to ensure their source code is archived properly and easily retrievable.
- Properly promote, label, baseline, and track code changes within the source control tool.
- Enforce process and workflow for all users of ALM tools.
- Ensure documentation is updated based on direction from Team Lead.
- Identify implementation conflicts between applications during change management reviews.
- Create detailed release / implementation checklists-based Change tickets in ServiceNow.
- Ensure that all after hours build / deployment activities are adequately supported.
- Ensure any issues that occur are remediated in a timely fashion or escalated to Team Lead / Management
The Expertise You Bring
- Extensive knowledge in Build Automation, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery using Java, Ant, Maven and Jenkins.
- Solid understanding of System Development Life Cycle and associated Development, QA and Production processes.
- Solid understanding of Source Code Management practices – Code Promotion, Branching / Merging, SCM Planning, SCM Auditing, Code Build and Deployment etc.
- User knowledge of ALM tools (Bitbucket, GitHub, Jira, Confluence, Rational Team Concert).
- Understanding of IT technologies (hardware, software, systems development, and integration).
- Basic knowledge of SQL, Progress and Oracle databases.
- Functional knowledge of UNIX (Shell / Groovy / Python / PERL) and Windows (VB / Batch) scripting.
- Knowledge of various Agile models such a Kanban, Scrum, Scaled Agile, etc.
- Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills.
We are in search of a candidate with the following
- 2 years’ experience in Application Lifecycle Management
- Post-secondary education in a computer program and / or equivalent industry experience
- IT Designations and / or courses is an asset (e.g., ITIL, Agile, PMP, etc.)
- CSC is an asset
