Opportunity
Zurich Canada is seeking a Reinsurance Underwriting Senior Analyst to execute reinsurance planning and account management responsibilities, including preparation, negotiation, and administration of traditional reinsurance agreements. The hybrid role supports strategic planning, relationship management with business units, and execution of reinsurance placements.
What you will do
- Align treaty‑level reinsurance strategies with key stakeholders to support business plans and objectives.
- Drive execution of reinsurance agreements, managing data calls, negotiating with partners, and documenting contracts.
- Collaborate closely with Group Reinsurance and Canadian BU Analytics to incorporate analysis into decision making.
- Collect and validate exposure data from Business Units, perform quality control, and prepare aggregated information for pricing.
- Promote relationship management with Zurich Business Units, attributed cedents, reinsurers, and brokers.
- Capture treaty details in the mainframe system and coordinate with Finance for a seamless closing process.
- Support Treaty Premium Planning & Analysis.
- Oversee treaty contract compliance.
Qualifications – What you bring to the table
- Ability to build strong business‑partner relationships.
- Experience collaborating across business units/functions in a team environment.
- Experience working with reinsurance carriers and brokers.
- Strong verbal and written communication, engaging with senior management.
- Proficiency and motivation for working with technical details.
- Strategic thinking capabilities.
- Influencing and negotiation skills (developable).
- Well‑developed understanding of insurance and reinsurance concepts, including premium calculation and operating ratios.
- Experience preparing and communicating monthly performance updates to stakeholders.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of experience in the insurance industry.
Preferred
- Insurance designation such as CPI/CPCU.
- Strong analytics skill set (financial modeling, etc.).
- Advanced knowledge of reinsurance contracts.
- Negotiation and business‑partnering experience.
