A healthcare organization in Nova Scotia is seeking a Rehabilitation Assistant to support therapeutic activities for patients. Responsibilities include conducting recreational activities, assisting volunteers, and ensuring the safety of individuals during treatment. The ideal candidate should have completed a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program and have effective communication skills. This role emphasizes patient and staff safety in a collaborative environment.
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient & staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reports to the Manager or designate. Under the general direction of the treating Staff Therapist, carries out individual and group therapeutic, recreational, and physical activities to improve and maintain the functional abilities of patients and residents. Performs related functions such as providing direction to volunteers during activity programs, transporting patients and residents to and from treatment or activity area, and reporting observations on progress to Therapist.
Completion of a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
