Job summary

Humber River Health is seeking a Rehabilitation Assistant to join the Allied Health Services Team at the Wilson Site on a permanent full-time basis.

Work involves rotating shifts (Mon-Fri, weekends and holidays) and supports Physiotherapists/Occupational Therapists across medical, surgical, and specialty units. The role requires strong English communication and teamwork in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

  • Experience assisting Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in delivering care.
  • Ability to provide client-centered clinical care under supervision.
  • Strong communication and teamwork to support interprofessional care.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for treatment and support Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in delivering care to patients across medical, surgical, and specialty units
  • As an active member of the interprofessional team, the Rehab Assistant provides client-centered clinical care for assigned patients under the direction and supervision of a Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist.
  • Provides goal-oriented treatment interventions, patient/family education and support to address physical, emotional and self-care needs as assigned
  • Assisting with patient lifting, transferring and transporting as required.
  • Maintaining timely charting and workload measurement.
  • Monitoring and maintenance of equipment
  • Other duties as assigned, including general equipment monitoring and departmental duties such as light cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
  • Clinical supervision of students, including OTA/PTA students in collaboration with the PT or OT.
  • Deliver cross-coverage services, ensuring appropriate treatment for patients in post-acute services

$29.77 - $35.15

Responsibilities

Qualifications
  • Current experience at HRH as a Rehab Assistant or a graduate from a PTA and OTA Certificate/Diploma program from a recognized institution
  • Must be able to work well under supervision and maintain the delegation of responsibilities for support personnel as mandated of the Ontario College of Physiotherapists and the Ontario College of Occupational Therapists.
  • Experience in an acute hospital setting preferred.
  • Experience in working with an active inpatient population is an asset.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills and teamwork.
  • Must be capable of bending, stretching and lifting while assisting patients.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be organized and able to complete tasks within the allocated time frames.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Availability for scheduled weekend work may be required.
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
