Job summary

Humber River Health in Toronto is seeking a Rehabilitation Assistant to join the Allied Health Services Team. This permanent part-time position offers rotating shifts including weekends and holidays at the Wilson Site.

The role supports Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists with inpatient care, assists with patient transfers, prepares patients for treatment, and helps maintain charts and equipment. Eligibility includes HRH experience or PTA/OTA certification and strong communication

• : Ability to bend, stretch and lift while assisting patients.

Responsibilities

• Assist Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist with patient treatment on Inpatients within the Surgical Program.
• Assist with patient lifting, transferring and transporting as required.
• Provide assigned, delegated treatment regimes.
• Prepare patients for treatment and assist therapists in related duties.
• Maintain timely charting and workload measurement.
• Monitor and maintain equipment.
• Support departmental duties and basic equipment cleaning.
• Supervise students (OTA/PTA) with PT/OT supervision.

Right now we are looking for a Rehabilitation Assistant to work with our Allied Health Services Team.

Employment Status: Permanent Part Time

Hours of Work: Available to work rotating shifts (Monday to Friday, Weekends & Statutory Holidays)Location: Humber River Health, Wilson SiteLabour Group: OPSEU 590Reporting Relationship: Manager of Allied Health Services & Outpatient RehabHourly Rate: $29.77 - $35.15

Responsibilities:

• Assisting both Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist with patient treatment on Inpatients within the Surgical Program, with the occasional assistance within the inpatient Medical program.
• Assisting with patient lifting, transferring and transporting as required.
• Providing assigned, delegated treatment regimes.
• Adherence to all delegated responsibilities.
• Preparing patients for treatment.
• Assisting the therapist in related duties.
• Maintaining timely charting and workload measurement.
• Monitoring and maintenance of equipment
• Other duties as assigned, including general equipment monitoring and departmental duties such as light cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
• Clinical supervision of students, including OTA/PTA students in collaboration with the PT or OT.

Qualifications:

• Current experience at HRH as a Rehab Assistant or a graduate from a PTA and OTA Certificate/Diploma program from a recognized institution
• Must be able to work well under supervision and maintain the delegation of responsibilities for support personnel as mandated of the Ontario College of Physiotherapists and the Ontario College of Occupational Therapists.
• Experience in an acute hospital setting preferred.
• Experience in working with an active inpatient population is an asset.
• Demonstrated effective communication skills and teamwork.
• Must be capable of bending, stretching and lifting while assisting patients.
• Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
• Must be organized and able to complete tasks within the allocated time frames.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
• Availability for scheduled weekend work may be required.

• Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
