Job summary

Sienna Senior Living’s Nicola Lodge Community in Port Coquitlam is seeking a Rehabilitation Aide to support residents with rehabilitative care under supervision. You will follow physiotherapist-directed programs, assist with mobilization, and contribute to recreation activities.

Requirements include a Grade 12, a rehab aide degree/diploma, 2+ years in long-term care, First Aid with CPR-C, and background checks as required for Ontario/BC applicants. This role pays $32.84/hour.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 graduate.
• Rehabilitation therapy or rehab aide degree/diploma required.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in Long Term Care.
• Valid First Aid Certificate including CPR-C.
• Vulnerable Sector Check required (Ontario applicants).
• Criminal Records Check required (British Columbia applicants).

Responsibilities

• Follow the rehabilitation and mobilization program of residents as directed by the treating physiotherapist.
• Incorporate rehabilitation routines into recreation programs as directed by Director of Resident Programming.
• Provide teaching and demonstrating methods of proper rehabilitation and exercise to residents, families and team members.
• Submit assessments for annual Care Conferences or Individual Program Plan.
• Maintain an inventory of equipment, tools and supplies and report malfunctions to the Director of Resident Programming.
• Provide input into planning and evaluating rehabilitation/recreation programs by reporting observations and resident feedback.
• Report and record any concerns or changes in residents' functional and cognitive behaviour to the direct care team.
• Maintain an attending roster for statistical purposes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Rehabilitation Aide is a critical role within our communities as it impacts the lives of residents through the strong leadership and motivation of Sienna team members.

As a Rehabilitation Aide your typical day will impact the following ways:

• Following the rehabilitation and mobilization program of residents as directed by the treating physiotherapist.
• Incorporating rehabilitation routines into recreation programs as directed by Director of Resident Programming.
• Providing teaching and demonstrating methods of proper rehabilitation and exercise to residents, families and team members.
• Submitting assessments for annual Care Conferences or Individual Program Plan.
• Maintaining an inventory of equipment, tools and supplies and report malfunctioning equipment and supply needs to the Director of Resident Programming.
• Providing input into planning and evaluating rehabilitation / recreation programs by reporting observations and resident feedback to the Director of Resident Programming.
• Reporting and recording any concerns or changes in the resident’s functional and cognitive behaviour to the direct care team.
• Maintaining an attending roster for statistical purposes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Must haves:

• Grade 12 graduate.
• Recreation therapy or rehab aide degree/diploma is required.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in Long Term Care.
• Valid First Aid Certificate including CPR-C.
• All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check. Applicable to Ontario applicants.
• All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Criminal Records Check. Applicable to British Columbia applicants.

Bonus Points for having:

• Additional training in mobilization and rehabilitation.

Wage Leveling rate of pay $32.84 per hour until such time that wage leveling ends, then the pay rate will reflect the collective agreement pay rates.
