Qualifications

  • Experience in mining permitting, regulatory compliance, and environmental management.
  • Proven experience permitting mining projects from start to finish.
  • Strong background in Indigenous engagement and regulatory consultation.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
  • Skilled at developing options and strategic pathways to move permitting processes forward efficiently.
  • Collaborative mindset, works effectively with engineering, admin, and operations teams.

  • Ensure full regulatory compliance with mining and environmental legislation.
  • Coordinate permit applications, submissions, and tracking.

We are seeking an experienced and resourceful Mine Permitting Manager to join our client’s team. This is a pivotal role in advancing one of British Columbia’s most exciting steelmaking coal projects, contributing to regional economic growth while upholding the highest environmental standards.

This permanent, full-time position offers the opportunity to shape the permitting strategy for a major project while working alongside an experienced leadership team that values open communication, autonomy, and collaboration.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
  • Guide the project through complex regulatory processes to secure required permits and approvals for exploration, development, operation, and closure
  • Ensure full regulatory compliance with provincial, federal, and local mining and environmental legislation
  • Coordinate permit applications, submissions, and tracking (e.g., Mines Act, water use, environmental approvals)
  • Develop and maintain high-quality documentation—including environmental assessments, closure plans, and technical reports
  • Engage stakeholders—acting as a liaison with government agencies, Indigenous Nations, and multidisciplinary internal teams
  • Integrate input from engineering, geology, and environmental specialists to ensure alignment with permitting and project schedules
  • Conduct monitoring and auditing to verify compliance with permit conditions and identify corrective actions
  • Advise senior management on regulatory risks, strategic options, and evolving permitting requirements
