Job Purpose

As a member of the Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) Team, the Regulatory Compliance Manager, Regulatory Developments contributes to the execution of Coast Capital’s RCM Program and facilitates business units navigating regulatory changes and ensures operational process and procedures adhere to regulatory obligations. This role includes continuously monitoring of new regulatory developments and other ongoing changes to the regulatory landscape, managing the regulatory library/ inventory of all applicable governing legislation and controls and/or detecting instances of non-compliance, including the assessment of the materiality of applicable regulatory requirements.

Accountabilities
Regulatory Monitoring
  • Identifies, monitors and maintains emerging/changing/new legislation and existing legislation Coast Capital must comply with.
  • Analyzes industry emerging trends, laws and regulations, including review & analysis of regulatory announcements, reports, and legislative changes (e.g. regulatory consultations, proposed guidance, new regulations).
  • Develops, manages and maintains the listing of all regulatory requirements to which Coast Capital is subject.
Communication - Engagement
  • Delivers preliminary applicability assessment and quantifies the potential impact(s).
  • Facilitates Coast Capital’s Business Units to navigate regulatory changes by notifying and communicating with the impacted stakeholders, ensuring regulatory developments are identified, assessed and actioned.
  • Creates concise summaries of regulatory changes for oversight functions.
  • Collaborates with leadership and key stakeholders at all levels to build a culture of compliance regarding regulatory processes and tools.
  • Prepares the monthly newsletter on all regulatory changes for communication to the Organization.
Regulatory Library
  • Contributes to the continuous improvement of the regulatory library supporting the Regulatory Compliance Management Framework (RCMF).
  • Manages and notifies Corporate Compliance of updates required to the online regulatory library, identifies changes and communicates them to the affected owners.
Tracking and Reporting
  • Responsible for daily tracking and monthly and quarterly reporting on regulatory changes and supporting adhoc requests from stakeholders.
Other
  • Help with ad-hoc projects. Documenting standard operating procedures, drafting regulatory procedures. Cross-training within the Compliance Team when needed.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Level of Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • 4-6 years of experience in a similar role with comparable work; previous experience interpreting regulations within a Bank or Federally Regulated Credit Union is preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of legislation and regulations impacting Federal Credit Unions and Banks
  • Excellent ability to analyze, interpret, synthesize, simplify and communicate complex legislative and regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of financial products and services
  • Strong project management skills with a proven track record of success with regulatory compliance and technology-based compliance projects
  • Experience with technology monitoring systems, willingness to learn and use other technology monitoring systems
  • Excellent communication skills, proactive and driven for results
  • Comfortable dealing with individuals at all levels of the Credit Union
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong ability to handle complex issues and a high-volume workload with varied time expectations
  • Detail-oriented with multi-tasking, analytical, time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member
  • Critical thinker and proactive worker
  • Ability to find efficiencies and confidence to offer suggestions for improvements
