Job summary

Canadian Tire Bank, part of Canadian Tire Services Limited, is seeking a Co-op Student to support regulatory compliance within a federally regulated financial institution. You will gain hands-on experience in risk management, governance, and regulatory oversight while supporting the Compliance team on diverse projects.

In this cooperative role, you’ll contribute to documentation, monitoring, testing, issue tracking, and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a post‑secondary program in Business, Finance, Commerce, Economics, Law, Risk Management, Public Policy, or related discipline.
  • Strong interest in regulatory compliance, risk management, governance, or financial services.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated curiosity, initiative, and willingness to learn.
  • Previous experience in financial services, compliance, risk management, audit, or related field is considered an asset but is not required.
  • Familiarity with Canadian banking regulations, governance frameworks, or compliance concepts is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Compliance team and business partners to support a culture of compliance.
  • Maintain compliance documentation, including policies, regulatory inventories, risk assessments, and monitoring records.
  • Assist with compliance monitoring and testing activities, including gathering information and reviewing documentation.
  • Support issue tracking and remediation by maintaining logs and following up on actions.
  • Track regulatory developments and document potential impacts to the Bank.
  • Prepare compliance reports, metrics, dashboards, and presentations for management and governance committees.
  • Support governance activities through meeting coordination and documentation.
  • Help maintain records to support audits and regulatory examinations.
  • Participate in compliance projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders on day‑to‑day operations.
  • Conduct research on regulatory requirements, industry trends, and emerging compliance risks.
