Job description
Overview

Central Victoria Veterinary Hospital is looking for an experienced Registered Veterinary Technologist with leadership experience for our Team Lead role in our Emergency service. Location: Victoria, BC. Salary Range: $36.00 to $42.00 (depending on experience).

This role combines the excitement of Emergency care with the opportunity to lead a team of dedicated Veterinary Technologists. The position works closely with the RVT-led leadership team, Medical Director, and other team leads. Successful candidates will have prior leadership experience, a desire to grow skills, a positive teamwork attitude, and strong customer service and communication skills. The role features a mix of ER duties and daytime administrative time, with on-call requirements (one of every four weeks) to respond to concerns remotely. Advanced learning opportunities are available with our Technical Development Officer and Specialists.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and mentor the veterinary technology team; provide orientation, training, and performance management for new hires
  • Create schedules, monitor workflow, and ensure smooth operations
  • Maintain a high level of patient care and client service
  • Identify and address concerns or conflicts proactively
  • Attend regular leadership meetings to discuss challenges, solutions, new ideas, and clinic initiatives for the whole hospital
  • Perform clinical procedures including venipuncture, catheter placement, radiology, anesthesia monitoring, and patient assessment
  • Thrive in a steady and often fast-paced environment
  • Maintain accurate patient records and demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities
  • Collaborate with colleagues and pet parents with exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate a love of pets and a commitment to high standards of care
Qualifications
  • Registered Veterinary Technologist (RVT) or eligible to register
  • Ability to lead, support, coach, and mentor the team
  • Experience orienting and training new staff; capable of performance management
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Willingness to further enhance technical skills
  • Strong teamwork and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to keep accurate patient records
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • A love of pets
