Job summary

VCA Canada is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technologist (RVT) for our Calgary location. The full-time RVT will join a team focused on high-quality care, mentorship, and ongoing training, with opportunities to contribute to compassionate patient outcomes.

The role requires overnight availability, strong triage skills, and experience with anesthesia monitoring, catheter placement, and emergency procedures. Collaboration with DVMs and staff is essential for safe, efficient care.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Veterinary Technologist/Animal Health Technologist program (RVT eligible or registered).
  • Ability and willingness to work overnight shifts on a full-time basis.
  • Experience or confidence in patient assessment, anesthesia monitoring, catheter placement, and emergency procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provide triage and emergency assessment for urgent and critical cases.
  • Monitor anesthesia, assist with procedures, and manage catheter placement during emergencies.

Job description

Registered Veterinary Technologist, RVT Location: Calgary, AB Calgary North Hospital is welcoming a full-time Registered Veterinary Technologist, RVT to join our team.

While our network is large, we still offer that local community feeling, mentorship, and additional training!

  • Completion of a Veterinary Technologist/Animal Health Technologist program (RVT eligible or registered)
  • Ability and willingness to work overnight shifts on a full-time basis
  • Strong triage and emergency assessment skills, including prioritization of urgent and critical cases
  • Experience or confidence in patient assessment, anesthesia monitoring, catheter placement, and emergency procedures
  • Ability to work independently overnight, while maintaining strong communication with DVMs and team members
  • Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills, with appropriate escalation when needed
  • Commitment to accurate and timely medical record documentation
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with both team members and pet owners during high-stress situations
  • Passion for providing compassionate, high-quality patient care
  • A love for all companion animals!!
