Job summary

Fairfield Animal Hospital, part of Ethos Veterinary Health, seeks a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join a busy emergency and critical care team in Kelowna. The role supports full- and part-time schedules with a 4 on/4 off rotation, including evenings, weekends, and rotating overnights.

You’ll work alongside veterinarians and technicians dedicated to high‑quality animal care, in a collaborative, fast-paced setting that values growth and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Registered Veterinary Technician with licensure in good standing.
  • Experience or interest in emergency and critical care for small animals.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education.

Responsibilities

  • Handle, restrain, and care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery.
  • Assist the veterinarian before, during, and after surgery.
  • Administer medications and vaccines under supervision.
  • Provide nursing care and monitoring for emergency patients.
  • Perform triage and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Produce radiographs and collect lab samples.
  • Counsel clients on animal health care and aftercare.

Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) - Fairfield Animal Hospital

$27–34 CAD/hr based on experience, with premiums for evening, weekend and overnight shifts


Full-time and part-time opportunities in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada


Schedule: 4 on, 4 off rotation, including evenings, weekends, and rotating overnights (typically one month per year). Open to candidates interested in overnights only. Full-time and part-time positions considered based on staffing needs.

In your day-to-day, you will:



  • Handle, restrain, and care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery

  • Assist the veterinarian before, during, and after surgery

  • Prepare and administer medications and vaccines under veterinarian direction

  • Provide nursing care and monitoring for emergency and critical care patients

  • Perform ongoing triage assessment and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Produce diagnostic radiographs and CT scans, collect samples, and perform laboratory tests

  • Provide wound and bandage care

  • Assist with blood transfusions

  • Counsel clients on animal health care

  • Help mentor visiting practicum students and peers

  • Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams

  • Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture

  • Registration as a Veterinary Technologist
