Advance your respiratory therapy career with a team dedicated to your growth and meaningful impact across a diverse spectrum of care settings. At Sinai Health, Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRTs) work across a variety of settings, including the world-renowned Level 3 NICU and state-of-the-art ICU and Operating Room’s at Mount Sinai Hospital in addition to rehabilitation and palliative care at Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital. This dual focus allows you to build a versatile skill set, collaborate with leading specialists, and make a profound difference in patient outcomes across the spectrum of health care. We offer opportunities to enhance your professional growth by pursuing advanced certifications, such as becoming a Certified Respiratory Educator (CRE). Whether you aim to advance your knowledge in specialized areas like asthma, COPD, or smoking cessation, or seek to broaden your clinical expertise in critical care, we are committed to helping you reach your full potential as a Respiratory Therapist.
You thrive on using critical thinking to provide the best possible care to your patients. You don't hesitate to take initiative, whether it's suggesting an adjustment to a patient's ventilation plan based on the latest test results, identifying an opportunity to improve communication with the team, or seeking out new research on best practices for managing patients with complex respiratory needs. This proactive approach makes you a valuable asset.
You recognize that exceptional respiratory care is a team effort. You value the diverse skills and experiences of your colleagues, and you're eager to contribute your own expertise to the collective knowledge of the team. This collaborative spirit drives you to actively participate in interprofessional discussions, mentorship opportunities, and team-based initiatives to enhance patient care and advance the practice of respiratory therapy.
You're driven to continuously learn and expand your skillset. This role offers hands-on experience with respiratory technologies— such as neurally adjusted ventilatory assist (NAVA), high-frequency oscillatory ventilation (HFO), and high-frequency jet ventilation (HFJV), EIT (electrical impedance tomography) and TPP (transesophageal pulmonary pressure) allowing you to directly enhance patient care while developing specialized areas of practice.
Our respiratory therapy team comprises over 100 dedicated professionals who are committed to providing the highest quality care for patients with lung conditions and breathing difficulties. We deliver a broad range of therapies, including medications, mechanical interventions, and specialty gases, tailored to each patient’s needs. We support a wide range of clinical areas across both Mount Sinai and Hennick Bridgepoint Hospitals. In addition to inpatient care, our outpatient efforts empower patients through education, offering programs in asthma/COPD management, and smoking cessation. The Pulmonary Function lab provides support to our Respirology team by providing a complete range of diagnostic tests including Cardiopulmonary exercise testing and methacholine challenge tests.
Collaboration is central to our approach, with daily virtual huddles for team-wide alignment and ASCOM phone systems enabling specialized communication between our care settings. In addition to clinical care, we actively engage in research to improve outcomes and share knowledge through education.
Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required
