A health services organization in Fort Saskatchewan is seeking a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) to support patient care within correctional healthcare settings. Responsibilities include providing leadership, advocacy, and patient-centered nursing care. The ideal candidate will have completed an accredited nursing program and hold relevant certifications. Salary range is $39.58 - $54.16 per hour for provisional permit holders, with competitive rates upon full licensure.
Reporting to the Healthcare Manager, this position requires demonstrated competencies in community addiction resources, Opioid Agonist treatment and concurrent disorders, as it relates to transitioning from a Correctional Facility back into the community. It requires collaboration with a multi‑disciplinary team, client advocacy and a thorough knowledge of corrections healthcare including effective in‑facility screening, comprehensive assessment and case management. Treatment priorities include education regarding in‑center OAT and community linkage. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality, patient‑ and family‑centered care, while reflecting shared vision and values.
PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Psychiatric Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
Completion of an accredited psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
As required.
Experience in corrections or addictions is preferred.
