TEMPORARY FULL TIME, EVENING

Position Type: Temporary Full-time

Contract: 12 months

Shift Type: Evening, including alternate weekends (subject to change)

Compensation

Hourly Pay Rate: $37.56 - $38.16

Unit: mix of Physical support, Transitional Behavioural Support and Mental Health Units

Summary: The residents on these units need a specialized environment and a specialized care team to help manage their activities of daily living. This work area is an ideal setting for those wanting to understand ageing and the cognitive or mental health changes or major issues present in this population.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to
  • In collaboration with RN provides sound clinical knowledge and skills, acts as clinical expert and resource and provides comprehensive, quality client/family centred health care services from admission, through transfers and discharge
  • Plans for, delivers and evaluates nursing interventions, including medications, as well as treatments which fall within the RPN’s scope of practice
  • Provides client-centred care within interdisciplinary care team to meet the personal care, activation, recreation and spiritual needs of clients
  • Performs client assessments
  • Collaborates with the Registered Nurse to develop and revise the individualized care plan
Qualifications include but are not limited to
  • Current registration, in good standing, from the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) is required
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certificate, Level C - Automated External Device (AED) is required
  • Experience in Long-Term Care, clients in day programs or residents in a Long-Term Care and Community Setting preferred
  • Psychogeriatric experience, i.e. mental health assessment and intervention and working with responsive behaviours including various types of dementia, delirium, mental health issues preferred
  • Certificate in Dementia Care preferred
  • Training in Gentle Persuasive Approach and U-First preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer skills – including MDS/RAI, Point Click Care, Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
