Job summary

Providence Care Hospital in Kingston, ON is seeking a part-time Registered Practical Nurse to provide direct professional nursing care to patients in mental health services with less complex needs, under the supervision of the RN and clinical team.

You will contribute to the patient's journey toward independence and wellness by following the nursing process, assessing needs, and updating care plans. Must have RPN with Ontario registration, acute psychiatric experience, and CPR.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse.
• Must have recent experience in an acute psychiatric setting.
• Must have current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Completing a nursing history based on information received from the patient, family and other sources.
• Developing and recording a goal oriented nursing care plan focused on immediate needs in collaboration with the patient.
• Performing interventions for which he/she can manage the outcomes or has resources to manage the outcomes.
• Accurately following the prescribed medical regime
• Re-assessing the plan in terms of goals set.
• Recognizes unusual patient responses and consults with others as required.
• Revising nursing care plan based on evaluation using professional judgment

To provide direct professional nursing care to patients requiring mental health services and presenting with less complex care needs. Utilizing the principles of the nursing process and in collaboration with the RN and members of the clinical team, the RPN can provide care to patients with more complex needs within his/her level of competence. The RPN, as a member of the clinical team, contributes to the patient’s journey toward maximum independence and wellness.

Skills and Qualifications Required:
