Job summary

Lennox and Addington County General Hospital in Napanee, Ontario, is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) for Long Term Care. The RPN provides nursing care to residents within a multidisciplinary team, following the standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Shifts rotate across days, evenings, nights, and weekends to meet care needs. The role requires graduation from an approved nursing program, BCLS, active CNO registration, and RPNAO membership preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Nursing Program.
• BCLS current certification.
• Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario; in good standing.
• RPNAO membership preferred.
• Ability to initiate and administer IV therapy and IV medications.
• Knowledge of CNO standards for RPN scope.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; teamwork.
• Able to meet physical demands of the position.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care to residents in LTC as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Follow CNO standards of practice for RPNs.
• Administer IV therapy and medications as prescribed.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff.

Basic Function and Scope:

As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) provides professional nursing service to patients/residents based on the standards of practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Hours of Work:

Rotating shifts (days, evenings, nights, and weekends) as required.

Pay Rate:

$38.48-$39.01

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education
• Graduate of an approved Nursing Program;
• B.C.L.S current certification;
• Registration
• A member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario;
• Membership in good standing with Registered Practical Nursing Association of Ontario (RPNAO), preferred.
• Required Skills
• Demonstrated competence to initiate and administer Intravenous therapy & approved I.V. medications;
• Demonstrated knowledge of the CNO Standards applicable to the RPN scope of practice;
• Ability to work in a fast paced, multifunctional work environment;
• Demonstrated commitment to ongoing education;
• An ability to function in a crisis situation;
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, courteously and tactfully;
• Demonstrated ability to be a supportive team member who is willing to work in a collaborative, civil, enthusiastic way promoting a safe and positive work place environment;
• Must have annual review education completed;
• Must have previous proven good performance and attendance record.
