Job summary

Oak Valley Health in Ontario is seeking an Registered Practical Nurse to join the Medicine and Transitional Bed Unit. You will perform comprehensive assessment, care planning, patient education and discharge planning to support continuity of care during the patient’s stay.

This role requires RPN registration, current BLS, and recent medical/surgical experience. A commitment to patient-centered care and strong teamwork within an interprofessional team is essential.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from a recognized Registered Practical Nursing diploma program.
  • Current RPN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Recent medical/surgical experience required.
  • RPNAO membership is preferred.
  • Excellent patient assessment skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to a patient/family centered care environment.
  • Demonstrated excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an interprofessional team as well as independently.
  • Well developed organization, communication, interpersonal and teaching skills.

What we are looking for:

As a Registered Practical Nurse, you will be an integral member of the interprofessional team on the Medicine and Transitional Bed Unit. You will practice in an environment where the emphasis is on activation, professional practice and customer satisfaction. Using your clinical expertise, you will, in collaboration with the team, be responsible for comprehensive assessment, care planning, patient education and discharge planning to support the continuity of care throughout the patient's stay on the inpatient unit.

What you bring to the role:
  • Graduate from a recognized Registered Practical Nursing diploma program
  • Current RPN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current BLS certification

Work Schedule:

12 hr day and night shifts (0730-1930 & 1930-0730) on weekdays, weekends and statutory holidays.
