Job summary

A community-based teaching hospital in Mississauga is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse for the 2D Mental Health Program. This role involves working as part of an interdisciplinary team to deliver quality care to adult and senior mental health patients. The ideal candidate will have a current certificate of competency from the College of Nurses of Ontario, medication administration experience within the last year, and must be flexible with their availability, including weekends. Position Summary

2D is an in-patient Mental Health unit that supports the recovery of the acutely ill patient. The Mental Health Team is committed to delivering the highest quality of care in a safe, therapeutic environment.

Job Description
  • Working as a member of an interdisciplinary team to ensure high quality care;
  • Responsible and accountable for the provision of nursing care to an adult and seniors mental health population in accordance with the standards of nursing practice and evidenced based practice;
  • Must be willing to work all shifts.
Qualifications
  • A current annual certificate of competency with the College of Nurses of Ontario;
  • Able to function to the full scope of practice as per CNO combined with sound patient care nursing skills required;
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in an adult mental health hospital setting required;
  • Medication Certificate and experience with administration of medication within the last year required;
  • Patient physical assessment course required;
  • Must have effective interpersonal, communication, organizational and problem solving skills;
  • Reliable and flexible individual who is willing to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team environment;
  • Positive attendance and work record essential;
  • Must be available to work alternate weekends.
  • Must have a positive work and attendance record
