Department/Unit/Program Description

The 4th floor Surgical Unit is comprised of both medical and surgical patients which have various complexities such as CHF, COPD, bowel obstructions to general medicine cases. The surgical cases range from orthopedics, general surgery, eye, women’s health and urology.

Position Summary

The Surgical 4th Floor Unit is currently seeking a Permanent Part-time Registered Practical Nurse to join their team.

Effective Date: May 04, 2026

Essential Qualifications
  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current CPR Certification, on hire
  • Certified or willing to be certified in tracheostomy suctioning, continuous bladder maintenance, catheter irrigation and simple dressings
  • Current medication course for RPN
  • Demonstrated ability to deal co-operatively and effectively with all levels of staff and the public
  • Demonstrated high level of communication, organizational and time management skills
  • Must be able to fulfill physical requirements of the job, as per current Physical Demands Analysis
  • Must be compliant with College of Nurses Quality Assurance Standards
Preferred Qualifications
  • Trained in EPIC - training can be provided, but must pass required testing
Hours of Work

Must be available to work 12 hour day and night shifts, Monday to Sunday. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.
