St. Joe's in Hamilton is seeking a Regular, Full-time Registered Practical Nurse to join the GIM Nursing Resource Team.

The RPN will float between GIM units (4MG, 5MG and 4BD) to cover leaves and assist with program needs. You will provide nursing care for adult patients, perform assessments, manage IV medications, telemetry monitoring, and collaborate with RNs and the health care team to ensure safe, high-quality care across acute and geriatric contexts.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario is required.
• Practical Nursing diploma with IV medication administration included or certificates as specified.
• Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience in acute medical settings preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with patients, families and health care team.

The Program provides primary, secondary, and tertiary care to a diverse adult patient mix embracing all age categories, socioeconomic backgrounds, ethnicities and education levels. The patient population served by the General Internal Medicine interdisciplinary team includes patients with undifferentiated medical illnesses, multiple co-morbidities requiring expertise outside the scope of a single primary care physician, specialist or sub-specialist that can be acute or chronic in nature. Our skilled and dedicated interdisciplinary health professional team work collaboratively to provide high quality, safe, ethical and effective care to the patients and families we serve. **Position Summary:** The GIM NRT staff are required to float between the GIM units (4MG, 5MG and 4BD). Staff will fill temporary leave of absences on one GIM unit or float between GIM units on a day-to-day basis depending on program needs. The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) provides nursing care for clients to promote health and assess need for provision of care and treatment of health conditions by supportive, preventive, therapeutic, palliative and rehabilitation means in order to attain or maintain optimal function. The RPN role models professional values, beliefs and attributes, and practices in accordance with the SJHH mission and values, policies and procedures, and College of Nurses Standards and Guidelines. A high level of collaboration between RPN and RN is required to ensure safe and effective care. The RPN provides care for less complex clients whose outcomes are more predictable and risk for negative outcomes is low.
