The Opportunity
The pharmacy operates within a bustling specialized clinic. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working independently in a high-paced pharmacy environment. They will collaborate closely with the on-site Physician and other clinic staff. Building strong connections with the clinic’s patients is crucial, given that many of them are regular attendees seeking treatment.
Position Description
As the successful candidate in this role, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to :
- Medication Dispensing: Accurate dispense prescribed medications to patients based on physician orders, ensuring correct dosage and proper packaging. Ensure medications are dispensed in a timely manner so that the patient is not waiting too long.
- Quality Control: Perform quality checks to ensure accuracy and safety of dispensed medications
- Patient Communication: Communicate with patients and healthcare providers to address any medication related inquiries including contraindications, drug interactions, etc. Always make sure customer service is a priority.
- Document Management: Maintain accurate and detailed records of medication dispensed, patient information and communication logs
- Collaboration: Work closely with physician and all clinic staff to ensure seamless coordination of services
- Compliance: Ensure all activities adhere to laws, regulations and pharmacy policies in accordance with OCP
- Inventory Management: Use pharmacy software to track all pharmacy inventory and take necessary steps to replenish inventory on a regular basis
Experience
- Must have 3+ years’ experience working in a pharmacy setting as a Registered Pharmacy Technician, Pharmacy Assistant or any other related role within the pharmaceutical sector
- Proficiency with computers, and ideally with Kroll or any other related Pharmacy management software system.
Qualifications
- Must be a Licensed and Registered Pharmacy Technician with OCP
- Must have at least 3 + years’ experience working in a Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician, Pharmacy Assistant or any other related role within the pharmaceutical sector
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy with medication dispensing and record keeping
Education
- Completion of post-secondary education as a pharmaceutical technician
- Licensed and Registered as a Pharmacy Technician in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
