SALARY: $39.07-$56.00/Hour

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Department Manager, coordination of the Team Lead, and working as a member of the unit team, the Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of quality nursing care to a patient or group of patients. The provision of such nursing care is expected to be within the Standards of Nursing Practice (CNO) and the standards of the nursing unit.

The Registered Nurse is expected to maintain competence and skills through on-going participation in continuing education and will be able to demonstrate proof of such participation. The Registered Nurse actively participates in CNO Quality Assurance Program.

Participates in service and hospital-wide activities and programs that model and promote a safe and healthy patient-centered environment and that contribute to quality improvement and risk.

Requirements

Education and Relevant Experience:

  • Registered Nurse (BScN) and current member in good standing of the Ontario College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • 2 years of Caseroom and post-partum experience required
  • Minimum Medical/Surgical Nursing experience required.
  • IV and BCLS certification required and maintained throughout employment
  • Previous obstetrical experience in labor and delivery unit, experience in Newborn Nursery
  • Case Room Training required & have recent birthing RN experience within last 12 months
  • Current F.H.S.L., N.R.P. and B.C.L.S and maintained throughout employment
  • ACLS certification preferred
  • Teaching experience would be an asset
  • Successful completion of an approved Medications Administration Course consistent with the Standard of the College of Nurses of Ontario. Able to demonstrate recent experience in the administration of medications.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrated competence in nursing practice as a Registered Nurse
  • Able to work a variety of shifts and to be on call as required
  • Excellent demonstrated medical-surgical patient teaching skills
  • Demonstrated Medical-Surgical Nursing knowledge
  • Strong interpersonal, assessment and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated flexibility, creativity, and ability to prioritize
  • Demonstrated customer service focus and ability to relate in a tactful and sensitive manner with staff, patients, and the public
  • Ability to organize work tasks and function both independently and collaboratively as a member of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to read, understand and follow written instructions
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to accept direction and feedback
  • Competence in computers and other job-related technology
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis is required
  • Demonstrated competence in the administration of medication
