Overview

Your Opportunity: Assisted Living Alberta is dedicated to Enhancing Care in the Community, helping people be healthy, well and independent in their homes and communities. For more information Assisted Living Alberta. Edmonton Zone Continuing Care provides services through five main program areas: Home Living, Supportive Living, Facility Living, Transition Services and Palliative Care. We are looking for a Registered Nurse Weekend Coordinator to join our Home Living team to provide professional support services in the homes of clients of all ages and stages of life. Please note that the primary location will be based out of Edmonton Community Health Hub North and will be required to assist at other sites in the Edmonton Zone. This position requires a 11.08 hours’ shift every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. As a self-directed team member with Continuing Care in the Edmonton zone, the Registered Nurse Weekend Coordinator works collaboratively with the health care team and has responsibilities, including assessment of needs, delivering appropriate therapeutic nursing services within professional practice standards, coordinating resources, establishing goals for client delivery, and evaluating outcomes. This position also entails network triage during the day and will take a lead role in planning the workload for the weekends; includes liaising with Community Care Access to provide direct care in the community and home clinics.

Responsibilities
  • As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
  • If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4) and NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification.
Additional Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of recent Home Care nursing experience.
  • Self-directed and able to work independently with sound professional judgement.
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple details.
  • Strong communication and assessment skills to work with healthcare team, clients and families.
  • At interview, you will be required to demonstrate computer proficiency via a skills test; knowledge of Microsoft Office, Visio, Outlook and Internet.
  • Physically capable of performing nursing tasks including potential client transfers; may work in clients\' homes and other settings; ability to lift and carry medical bags (approximately 25-30 lbs).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing.
  • Palliative care experience.
  • Triage experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Experience with Connect Care and RAI assessment tools.
  • Current Case Management Experience in Continuing Care.
