Job summary

A leading healthcare institution in Ottawa is seeking a qualified professional for its Integrated Schizophrenia Recovery Program. The role involves providing intensive support to adults aged 18-64 with complex schizophrenia-related conditions, focusing on their recovery and reintegration into the community. Candidates should have current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and relevant nursing experience. Bilingual candidates are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Up to 3 months Nursing Experience.
  • Knowledge of mental health/addiction issues.
  • Clear understanding of MHA and relevant legislation.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in psychiatric nursing practice.
  • CPR certification within the last 12 months (BCLS at a minimum).
  • Evidence of continuing professional education.
  • English level A- is mandatory; bilingual is considered an asset.

Integrated Schizophrenia Recovery Program

This program serves adults aged 18-64 with complex schizophrenia-related conditions requiring intensive support. The focus is on recovery, helping clients reintegrate into the community safely and independently. Referrals from healthcare providers are required.

Qualifications:
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Up to 3 months Nursing Experience.
  • Knowledge of mental health/addiction issues.
  • Clear understanding of MHA and relevant legislation.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in psychiatric nursing practice as articulated in the Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Practice.
  • Knowledge of mental health/addiction issues with specific knowledge about physical/medical compilations related to mental health and addictions.
  • Able to meet the standards of nursing practice of the College of Nurses.
  • CPR certification within the last 12 months (BCLS at a minimum).
  • Evidence of continuing professional education.
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Problem solving, leadership and management skills in responding to complex and rapidly changing situations.
  • Sensitivity, skills and experience working with diverse individuals and communities.
  • English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension and written expression. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • BScN.
  • Certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing.
  • Experience in Mental Health and/or addictions.
  • Membership and active participation in a professional nursing organization (RNAO).
  • Previous experience working in Community Mental Health.
  • Knowledge of Community Resources.
  • Knowledge and application of illness management recovery principles.
  • Experience in Psychosocial Rehabilitation Techniques.
