An essential part of this provincial health team, you will be responsible for providing telephone triage services, offering health advice and information to callers across Alberta. Description: As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. Please note: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Qualifications

• Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification.

Additional Required Qualifications

• Qualified candidates will have a minimum of three (3-5) years recent experience as a registered nurse in a clinical setting, including experience in a variety of clinical areas that require high levels of independent and advanced assessment skills, strong critical thinking and excellent probing skills to extract pertinent information to support clinical decisions. They will also require recent experience working with diverse client populations and clinical issues including emergency, pediatrics, maternal/child, medical/surgical and critical care. They will also have the ability to successfully deal with stress in a high call volume contact center and in addition, they will be able to work comfortably with a variety of computer databases. A minimum typing speed of 35 WPM is a must. Intermediate computer skills are also a requirement for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

• A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is preferred. Interacting with clients over the telephone experience is also preferred.
