A leading healthcare provider in Hamilton, Ontario is seeking a Registered Nurse to deliver patient-centered care primarily in nephrology and renal transplant units. POSITION SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a regulated health care professional who adheres to and role models the Standards and Guidelines of the College of Nurses of Ontario; the SJHH mission, vision and values, policies and procedures; and applicable specialty standards. The RN provides patient/client-centred and evidence-informed care to promote health and assess the need for the provision of care and the treatment of health conditions by supportive, preventative, therapeutic, palliative and rehabilitation means in order to attain or maintain optimal patient/client function. The RN collaborates with the inter-professional team and assumes a leadership role in delivering a full range of care and treatment to patients/clients including those with complex needs, high acuity and less predictable outcomes.
The successful applicant will provide RN coverage and support for long term vacancies within theNephrology and Renal Transplantunits. Episodic unit coverage may also be required while following all applicable scheduling provisions of the Collective Agreement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario required
-Previous general medical/surgical nursing experience
-Previous experience in nephrology or transplant nursing will be given preference
-Current BCLS/HCP certification required
-Demonstrated knowledge, sensitivity and expertise in the care of seniors and their families
-Gentle Persuasive Approach training preferred
-Central line management is an asset
-Demonstrated knowledge of the ethical issues around caring for this patient population
-Previous experience working within a multidisciplinary team setting
-Demonstrated excellence in communication skills
-Experience in total patient care is an asset
-Demonstrated expertise in teaching/patient education
-Commitment to the use of the nursing process and individualized care plans
-Demonstrated commitment to own professional development and ongoing education
-Willingness and ability to work the shifts as required in order to meet the needs of the unit for pre-booked and relief tours
-A good attendance and work record demonstrating reliability and dependability is essential
-A resume regarding further education, special courses and experience should accompany the application
