Job summary

Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH) in Midland, Ontario, is seeking a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room to provide direct perioperative patient care within a collaborative health care team. The RN will apply clinical knowledge to support patient outcomes under the College of Nurses of Ontario standards.

The role requires OR experience, certification, and strong communication, leadership, and critical thinking skills.

Qualifications

  • Current certificate of registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Must be compliant with College of Nurses quality assurance standards.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.).
  • Current ACLS and PALS Certification.
  • Excellent clinical, decision making and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, communication and organizational skills.
  • OR Certification.
  • Current OR experience.
  • Proficient with IV starts/phlebotomy.
  • Experience in assisting with flexible scopes is an asset.
  • CSAO Course is an asset.
  • Canadian Perioperative Nursing Certification is an asset.
  • PACU experience is an asset.
  • Ability to adapt to change in a fast paced working environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to use critical thinking and problem solving skills to ensure positive patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, communication skills necessary to promote positive interdisciplinary team dynamics is an asset.
  • Demonstrated consistent punctuality and attendance record, maintaining a high level of reliability and commitment to performing duties with efficiency and effectiveness in previous roles.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room works collaboratively as a member of the health care team. The RN will possess the theoretical knowledge and technical skills required to work in the peri-operative setting. The RN provides direct patient care to patients based on the three-factor framework as outlined in the College of Nurses of Ontario standard, RN and RPN Practice: The Client, Nurse and the Environment. These three factors have an impact on decision making related to care-provider assignment as well as the need for consultation and collaboration among care providers.

COMPENSATION

  • Hourly rate of pay $41.15 - $58.98,up to an additional 14% in lieu of benefits and 6% in lieu of vacation to start

HOURS OF WORK

Permanent Part Time.Must be available to work 8 and 12 hour day shifts. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the ONA collective agreement.
