A regional health authority in Canada is seeking a registered nurse for its Stroke clinic. The successful candidate will plan and provide direct nursing care, utilizing their expertise in cerebrovascular management. Applicants must be registered with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, have relevant specialty certification, and possess clinical experience with cerebrovascular syndrome/TIA care. The role emphasizes effective collaboration and patient care in a dynamic healthcare environment.
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reports to the Manager, Department Head, or designate. Plans and provides direct nursing care to patients/residents in the Stroke clinic in accordance with the unit/program philosophy, competency guidelines, policies, and the BCCNM Standards for Nursing Practice in British Columbia. Utilizes knowledge and clinical expertise in hyper acute cerebrovascular syndrome and TIA care and management and/or seniors and/or dementia care.
Education, Training And Experience
Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant. Canadian Nursing Association specialty certification in specialty area, such as neurosciences nursing preferred. Two (2) years clinical research experience or an equivalent combination of education and training in research, preferred. Two years' recent experience with Hyper acute cerebrovascular syndrome/TIA care, seniors and/or dementia care, or two years' stroke neuro experience, or an equivalent combination of education, experience or training. Current ECG certificate and basic CPR certificate required.
