Job description

The Kee Tas Kee Now Tribal Council is comprised of the five member Nations and is responsible for providing guidance and support to the individual member First Nations in developing and achieving success in the management and administration of their own programs with the intent of developing self‑reliance.

The Kee Tas Kee Now Tribal Council is comprised of the member Nations of: Loon River First Nation – #476, Lubicon Lake Band – #453, Peerless Trout First Nation – #478, Whitefish Lake First Nation – #459 and Woodland Cree First Nation – #474. It was formed in 1995 to facilitate joint action by the member Nations on matters of mutual concern.

Job Description

The STBBI Health Nurse will work to the full RN scope of practice to provide STBBI programming. Will provide education on STBBI’s in various settings as well as testing and follow‑up.

Responsibilities
  • Provide sexual health examination, education, supportive counseling, preventative and screening measures, referrals, and evaluation as appropriate to clients and families.
  • Provide Sexual and Reproductive Health services – required to provide STBBI test and treat, Women’s Wellness, contraception support.
  • Receive referrals for clients across their life span with STBBI health care.
  • Collaborate and coordinate services with other agencies.
  • Work independently as needed.
  • Maintain accurate health records and fulfill reporting.
  • Deliver health promotion, prevention, and education.
  • Interact effectively with clients, families, staff, supervisors and supporting stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all program initiatives reflect the cultural values, traditions, and customs of the Nation.

  • Excellent and effective decision‑making skills, oral and written skills, assessment skills, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, teaching skills and supervisory skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with other care providers.
  • Willing, capable, and flexible in working to meet the needs of the health system.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of three years of experience in Public Health along with provision of STBBI services is preferred. A combination of other education and experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Cree culture, organizations and familiarity with Cree language will be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of indigenous health care.
  • Completion of an accredited nursing education; active or eligible for registration and practice permit with CRNA.
  • Valid and current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS‑HCP).
  • Computer literacy – certification and/or training in entry level computer use.
Conditions of Employment

Proof of Alberta RN registration without restrictions, RCMP/Police Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector and Child Welfare Intervention Record Check (formerly Child Welfare Check, CWIS) submitted prior to commencement of employment, and adequate Driver’s Abstract.
