Job summary

A leading mental health facility in Ontario is seeking qualified nurses for the Integrated Schizophrenia Recovery Program. The role involves providing intensive support to adults with complex schizophrenia-related conditions, helping them reintegrate into the community. Ideal candidates will possess nursing registration and have experience in mental health. Additional qualifications in psychiatric nursing are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Up to 3 months nursing experience.
  • Knowledge of mental health/addiction issues.
  • Clear understanding of MHA and relevant legislation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in psychiatric nursing practice.
  • CPR certification within the last 12 months.
  • English level A- proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Provide intensive support for adults with schizophrenia-related conditions.
  • Assist clients in reintegrating into the community.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers for client referrals.

Job description
Integrated Schizophrenia Recovery Program

This program serves adults aged 18-64 with complex schizophrenia-related conditions requiring intensive support. The focus is on recovery, helping clients reintegrate into the community safely and independently. Referrals from healthcare providers are required.

Qualifications
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Up to 3 months Nursing Experience.
  • Knowledge of mental health/addiction issues.
  • Clear understanding of MHA and relevant legislation.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in psychiatric nursing practice as articulated in the Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Practice.
  • Knowledge of mental health/addiction issues with specific knowledge about physical/medical compilations related to mental health and addictions.
  • Able to meet the standards of nursing practice of the College of Nurses.
  • CPR certification within the last 12 months (BCLS at a minimum).
  • Evidence of continuing professional education.
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Problem solving, leadership and management skills in responding to complex and rapidly changing situations.
  • Sensitivity, skills and experience working with diverse individuals and communities.
  • English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension and written expression. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BScN
  • Certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing.
  • Experience in Mental Health and/or addictions.
  • Membership and active participation in a professional nursing organization (RNAO).
  • Previous experience working in Community Mental Health.
  • Knowledge of Community Resources.
  • Knowledge and application of illness management recovery principles.
  • Experience in Psychosocial Rehabilitation Techniques.
