Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse to support nursing practice in community and long-term care settings. You will follow established standards, monitor residents, and help develop and evaluate care plans in collaboration with physicians and the care team.

You must hold a provincial certificate of competence and be registered or eligible for registration, with strong communication and teamwork skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Current certificate of competence from the Approved Institutions for the province
  • Registered/eligible for registration with the Approved Professional Institutions for the province
  • Experience in Community or long-term care, with knowledge of duties
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritize tasks
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and comprehension skills
  • Creative problem-solving to look at the 'big picture'

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring resident / patient care is provided with established nursing standards and principles, physicians’ orders and administrative policies
  • Assisting in the assessment and monitoring of residents / patients while developing, implementing, reviewing and evaluating resident/patient care plans
  • Managing and evaluating the work of nursing and personal care staff assigned to the unit, including orientations and other supervisory duties
  • Monitoring performance, conducting performance appraisals and referring problems to the Director of Care
  • Provide direction to the nursing department in the absence of the Director of Care

Responsibilities

$36.06 - $54.59
