Schedule: Shifts during operational hours of Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Location: The Newly Institute Halifax Clinic (#3001, 7071 Bayers Rd, Halifax, NS)

We are leading a paradigm shift in the Canadian healthcare system by building a network of purpose-built mental health clinics across Canada. By fusing a bio-psycho-social-spiritual treatment model with medically managed therapies, our intensive outpatient programs provide rapid access, rapid resolution, and rapid return to work and healthy lifestyle programs for anxiety, depression, addiction, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), trauma, and chronic pain.

We now have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our Halifax clinical team on a casual basis.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Reporting to the Manager of Clinical Services you will providing comprehensive client-centered care, trauma therapy, and addictions support for individuals struggling with complex mental health conditions. This role is a key part of our dynamic clinical team and reflects our core values of communication, community, excellence, health, and innovation.

Accountabilities
  • Effective assessment of client status
  • Prepare, and facilitate ketamine treatment
  • Monitor and support clients during psychopharmacological treatment
  • Support clients in crisis or dysregulation, such as managing panic attacks, or providing de-escalation
  • Facilitatepsychoeducation groups(Based on Psychoeducation, DBT Skills, Mindfulness, FamilySupport, and Addictions Support)
  • Assist in grounding and reflection postpsychopharmacological treatment
  • Complete client intakes and case management support
  • Support clients receiving substance abuse treatment with biological monitoring, relapse prevention planning, psychoeducation, motivational interviewing
  • Participate in weekly case consultations and complex case discussions with the interdisciplinary team
  • Work collaboratively with other therapists by sharing a client caseload
  • Complete assessment, and discharge reports in a timely manner
WHAT YOU BRING
Experience
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in mental health assessment/triage and treatment is required.
  • Experience in addictions assessment and treatment, mental health group facilitation, and/or care plan development is a significant asset.
  • Equivalencies of education may be considered.
Education

A bachelor’s degree in nursing is required.

Registration and membership with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN) in good standing is required.

BLS and or willingness to obtain is required. ACLS training is an asset.

Technical Competences

Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams is required. Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems is also required.

Background Check
