A healthcare facility in Ontario is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide patient-centered care and manage acute pain for surgical patients. The ideal candidate holds current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and has strong communication and leadership skills. The Surgical Program provides surgical care to approximately 13,800 procedures at Charlton site. The Surgical program consists of 3 inpatient units including 10 bed level 2 critical care unit for a total of 117 beds. The Acute Pain Service (APS) provides specialized care and management of post-operative patient's pain. This consulting services collaborates with the multi-disciplinary team to deliver excellence and compassion care to the patients and their families.
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a regulated health care professional who adheres to and models the Standards and Guidelines of the College of Nurses of Ontario; the SJHH mission, vision and values, policies and procedures; and applicable specialty standards. The RN provides patient/client‑centered and evidence‑informed care to promote health and assess the need for the provision of care and the treatment of acute pain by supportive, preventative, therapeutic care in order to attain or maintain optimal patient/client function. The RN collaborates with the inter‑professional team and assumes a leadership role in delivering a full range of care and treatment to patient/clients including those with complex needs, high acuity and less predictable outcomes. This role provides ad‑hoc and scheduled relief coverage to the APS service; this is conducted in conjunction with their present area of assignment. The relief RN works within their scope of practice to support management pain management modalities in collaboration with the APS Anesthetist.
