Job Summary

The School Nurse is responsible for supporting medically fragile children and their families in the community. As a School Nurse, you will provide complex pediatric nursing care within a school setting and at times before and after school in the child’s home. The successful candidate will be working throughout the school calendar year except on all school holidays and PD days. Candidates with pediatric experience are preferred.

External and Internal Relationships

Education, Designations and Experience

• Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Current CPR and First Aid certification will be requested
• Experience working with pediatric clients is preferred
• Experience in community health an asset.

• Demonstrated ability to adapt nursing practice to operating independently in a variety of situations

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

This role requires a detail-oriented approach in a dynamic environment, with physical activity including lifting, carrying (using proper techniques), bending, reaching, kneeling, and other movements that emphasize good body mechanics. Individuals in the role are required to walk, sit, stand, and climb stairs throughout the day, with some tasks requiring fine hand movements.
