Position Summary

Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at the Lakes District Hospital. In accordance with the vision of Northern Health Authority, the Community Care Nurse practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) and within a patient and family centered care model. The nurse assesses, plans, organizes, implements, provides, and evaluates nursing and other services for clients in the community setting by assessing client needs, establishing patient care plans, delivering treatment, and providing support and health education as required. The nurse liaises with the client, caregiver, physician, health care providers and other agencies in order to arrange long‑term care, nursing care, home support, or other service delivery to clients.

Shift Rotation / Hours of Work

Monday to Friday, Days, 08:00 to 16:00.

Burns Lake

Burns Lake is located in the heart of the Lakes District, an area boasting over 4,800 kilometers of lake shoreline. The village has a diverse population of 2,000 residents and serves a surrounding area of approximately 13,000 residents of the Regional District of Bulkley‑Nechako. With two of the six local First Nations communities located within municipal boundaries, Burns Lake has a strong sense of culture and incredible local talents to showcase. Housing in Burns Lake is very affordable, including lakefront property! There are two K-7 schools, a K-9, a 8-12 and a 10-12 public school within the Lakes District Area. Additionally, there are two Independent Mennonite schools and one College of New Caledonia campus within the community. It is centrally located between Smithers (1.5 hrs) and Prince George (2.5 hours) for ease of access to airports. VIA Rail serves Burns Lake year round and stops right in the centre of Burns Lake's downtown core. Qualifications
  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
  • Gerontology content, post‑basic course in wound care management or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Post‑basic course in wound care management and Gerontology preferred.
  • Valid BC Driver's License.

  • Knowledge integration - Using factual information, prior learning, and basic principles and procedures to support decisions and actions with relevant research‑based evidence. Integrates best practice from nursing and health‑related disciplines and the humanities, arts and sciences into professional practice.
  • Ability to operate related equipment including relevant computer applications.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
