About the Opportunity

RhynoCare is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to work at a correctional facility in Thunder Bay, ON. You will be hired and onboarded with RhynoCare as an Independent Contractor.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments for individuals in custody
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans
  • Provide and oversee direct nursing care, including medication administration, wound care, chronic disease management, and mental-health related interventions
  • Monitor responses to treatment, identify clinical changes, and initiate appropriate follow-up or escalation
  • Lead and coordinate health care during medical emergencies within the institution
  • Perform triage for walk-in medical requests and urgent health concerns
  • Maintain accurate and confidential health records, documentation, and reporting
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, RPNs, mental health staff, and correctional officers to deliver integrated care
  • Educate patients about health conditions, medications, harm reduction, and self-care
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory standards, evidence-based practices, and organizational health care policies
  • Support infection prevention and control (IPAC) practices within the unit
  • Advocate for patient safety, dignity, and continuity of care while balancing security requirements of the correctional environment
Requirements
  • Current and active registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Flexibility to work various shift lengths (8 or 12 hours), as required by the facility schedule
  • Able and willing to work in different units within a correctional facility based on staffing needs
  • Reliability and commitment to scheduled shifts, in line with RhynoCare's attendance and cancellation policy.
Compensation
  • Pay : $ 65-70 / hour (depending on experience and assignment)
