Baycrest Hospital has an opportunity for a REGISTERED NURSE (RN) in the Complex Continuing Care Unit (5 West).

Position Details

Position Type: Temporary Part-Time (up to 12 months)

Shift Type: Day-Evening, alternate weekends (subject to change)

Hourly Pay Rate: $39.07 - $56.00

Bi-Weekly Hours: 30 Hours

Hours of Work: 7.5 hrs/shift

About the Unit

The Complex Continuing Care Unit provides care for older patients with complex medical conditions in a non-acute hospital setting. The program helps patients and their families identify strategies that support quality-of-life goals as well as short-term and long-term care needs.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to
  • Provide sound clinical knowledge and assessment skills, act as a clinical expert and resource, and deliver comprehensive, client/family-centred health care services from admission through transfers and discharge
  • Plan, deliver and evaluate nursing interventions, including medications, and other treatments within the RN scope of practice
  • Provide client-centred care within an interdisciplinary care team to meet personal care, activation, recreation and spiritual needs of clients
  • Participate actively in teaching programs for nurses and nursing students
Qualifications
  • Current registration, in good standing, with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) is required
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Level C with AED is required
  • BScN preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to take professional accountability for leading, organizing, providing and delegating care activities for clients and families
  • Experience in caring for geriatric patients with complex medical care needs preferred
  • Psychogeriatric experience (mental health assessment/intervention and working with responsive behaviours) preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Basic computer skills – Meditech, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel preferred
