Registered Nurse (RN) - Belleville Emergency Department

Position Summary: The Belleville Emergency Department is a fast paced department with an average of 115 patient visits per day. It serves as the center for ICU, Internal Medicine, Inpatient Surgery, Gynecology & Maternity, and is a Schedule One Psychiatry facility. Our team includes RNs, RPNs, physicians, physician assistants, and a multidisciplinary team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists and allied health professionals. We provide an extensive orientation program including classroom training and one‑on‑one mentoring. As a member of our team, you will have ongoing learning opportunities to expand your knowledge in a dynamic environment.

Required Qualifications
  • Current certificate of registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current certification in ACLS, or at a minimum BCLS or CPR, or proof of enrollment in a recertification course. You will be asked to provide a copy of your valid certificate at the time of hire/transfer.
  • ACLS certification or ability to obtain within 3 months of commencement.
  • Completion of Coronary Care 1 or equivalent (e.g., QHC Cardio Concepts) or ability to obtain within 6 months of commencement.
  • Minimum of 1‑year recent acute care experience, or 6 consistent months in a critical care environment, or consolidation completed within an ER environment within the last 2 years.
  • Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload.
Duties
  • Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, interpersonal and communication skills – to assume in‑charge responsibility and function independently.
  • Provision of care for patients within an inter‑professional environment, including assessment, treatment, teaching, and education.
  • Perform acts requiring specialized knowledge, skills, and judgment necessary for care of acute medical patients.
  • Teach and coach patients and families.
  • Maintain nursing records in accordance with College of Nurses Standards.
  • Practice in compliance with provincial legislation, hospital policy and procedures, professional regulatory standards, and best practices within the nursing profession.
  • Maintain professional competence by completing regular professional development including annual training and education as indicated.
  • Participate in unit/dept. and hospital quality improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to a safe and healthy workplace and maintain a safe and healthy work environment through attendance at educational programs, use of established mechanisms for injuries and hazards and compliance with health and safety policy and procedures.
  • Adapt and adhere to the values of Quinte Health while promoting and advocating for an enhanced patient experience.
  • Other duties as assigned.
