Registered Nurse (RN) – Acute Medicine (Quinte 6)
Welcome to Quinte 6 Acute Medicine, a dynamic environment serving a diverse range of acute medicine patients. With 48 beds and a supportive team, you’ll provide excellent, patient‑centered care in a 1:5 day and 1:6 night nurse‑to‑patient ratio. Required
- Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligibility for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current certification in BCLS or CPR, or proof of enrollment in a recertification course (valid certificate required at hire).
- Completion of Coronary Care 1 or equivalent, or ability to obtain within 6 months of commencement.
- Capability to cope with a physically demanding workload.
Duties
- Assume in‑charge responsibility with independent critical thinking, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Provide assessment, treatment, teaching, education and specialized care for acute medical patients within an interprofessional environment.
- Maintain accurate nursing records in accordance with College of Nurses standards.
- Practice in compliance with provincial legislation, hospital policy, professional regulatory standards and best practices.
- Continue professional development (annual training and education).
- Participate in unit, departmental and hospital quality‑improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a safe, healthy workplace, adhere to health‑and‑safety policy, and promote safe practices.
- Adapt and advocate for an enhanced patient experience aligned with Quinte Health values.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Physical Demands Analysis
Strength
- Occasionally lift and carry an average weight of 20 lbs and up to 50 lbs; pushing/pulling an average of 10‑15 lbs and up to 30 lbs; patient assistance approximately 100 lbs.
Mobility
- Constant standing; frequently walking, bending/stooping; occasionally sitting, twisting/turning, bending, crouching/squatting, kneeling; rarely balancing or climbing.
Dexterity
- Frequently forward shoulder movements, gripping/grasping, pinching; occasionally fine finger movements and shoulder movements; rarely foot action.
