CHEO is a leading pediatric health system in Ottawa. The nurse on the patient service unit assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care for individual patients and families.

You will practice within standards, providing learning experiences to promote wellness and maintain quality of life, while maintaining your professional nursing competencies and development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BScN) preferred.
  • Operating Room Technique from an approved facility required (Essential).
  • Two years pediatric surgery experience preferred.
  • Current Certification of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (Essential).
  • Current CPR Certification (Essential).
  • Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills (Essential).
  • Demonstrated culturally sensitive approach to nursing care (Essential).
  • Demonstrated strong family centered care skills (Essential).
  • Vulnerable Sector Check (Level 3) (Essential).
  • Bilingualism (French/English) preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY

In keeping with the mission statement of the hospital and the patient service unit, the nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for individual patients/families.

Effectively uses the nursing process Practices within the standards set by the College of Nurses of Ontario, the Hospital, and the patient service unit Provides appropriate learning experiences for the patient and family to promote or maintain wellness, and to achieve an optimal quality of life Is accountable for maintaining competence while developing the quality of his/ her professional nursing practice.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BScN) (Preferred)
  • Operating Room Technique from an approved facility (Essential)
  • Two (2) years paediatric surgery experience (Preferred)
  • Current Certification of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (Essential)
  • Current CPR Certification (Essential)
  • Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills (Essential)
  • Demonstrated culturally sensitive approach to nursing care (Essential)
  • Demonstrated strong family centered care skills (Essential)
  • Vulnerable Sector Check (Level 3) (Essential)
