A healthcare service provider in Canada is looking for a Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive patient care in an acute surgical unit. The role involves assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. Candidates must have an accredited nursing education, be registered with CRNA, and have BCLS-HCP certification. The position offers a competitive salary with various shift patterns, including days, nights, and weekends.
A Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of comprehensive patient and family care on an acute surgical unit in accordance with RAH and AHS policy and procedures. Staff at the Royal Alexandra Hospital serve a unique inner‑city population and we want to do it well. The Surgery Inpatient program maintains the expectation that all employees do so with pride, compassion, and respect. PCU 32 is a 23‑bed unit providing care to orthopedic fractured hip patients. Patients are received from the operating room, emergency department, intensive care units, and directly from home and/or medical clinics. We have modified nursing care on all shifts with Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Health Care Aides working cohesively within the collaborative model of care. Unit orientation will be established based on experience. Successful candidates will be expected to participate in quality improvement initiatives at the front line; supporting and maintaining high quality patient care strategies within the Surgery program. RNs are expected to direct and monitor the care provided by Health Care Aides and support their LPN peers. RNs are expected to take on the responsibility of charge nurse as required.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well‑being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem‑solving, and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family‑centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Demonstrated excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication and priority setting skills required. Demonstrated reliability required. Able to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment. Basic computer skills are required. Resume required. This job is physically demanding; the incumbent will be required to assist with lifting, repositioning, and mobilizing patients as well as other physical tasks.
Experience with assessment for signs of delirium and nursing interventions an asset. Experience with performing CAM assessment and CC behavioral charting/documentation an asset. Two years charge nurse experience preferred. Two years previous orthopedic and surgical experience preferred.
