A leading health service provider is seeking a casual Registered Nurse (RN) for the Ambulatory Care Neurosciences Program in Edmonton. The role includes providing nursing services, collaborating in an inter-disciplinary team, and managing neurological conditions. Qualified candidates must possess an accredited nursing education and a CRNA practice permit. This position offers a competitive salary ranging from $43.26 to $59.21 per hour based on qualifications and experience.
Working in the Ambulatory Care Neurosciences Program, the casual Registered Nurse (RN) will participate and support in the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation for quality care. The RN works collaboratively within an inter-disciplinary team, with other health care professionals, primary care networks, community agencies and key stakeholders to further develop, explore and implement strategies to address neurological disease management. Self-motivated and results oriented, the RN possesses expertise and competence in clinical practice, leadership, counseling, teaching and presentation skills relative to the management of neurological conditions such as Stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, Movement Disorders, Epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis and others. The Casual RN will be orientated into multiple clinics within the Neurosciences Department.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4) available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.
A minimum of 2 years relevant experience with adult population (Neurosciences, Acute Care, Ambulatory Care) as a Registered Nurse. Experience using SLUMS, GDS and MoCa assessment tools. Ability to prioritize and multitask. Demonstrated excellent assessment, documentation, clinical, organizational and patient care skills. Able to effectively maintain collaborative working relationships in a multidisciplinary environment. Must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills. Knowledge and ability to use computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook is required. Ability to push, pull, and lift equipment of up to 50 lbs. must be able to participate in patient assessments, moving and handling. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods and be competent with computer skills.
Experience as a RN in an ambulatory environment. Experience with Connect Care is preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
