Your Opportunity:

Working in the Ambulatory Care Neurosciences Program, the casual Registered Nurse (RN) will participate and support in the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation for quality care. The RN works collaboratively within an inter-disciplinary team, with other health care professionals, primary care networks, community agencies and key stakeholders to further develop, explore and implement strategies to address neurological disease management. The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills to provide care to individuals, families, groups and communities across the life span. The RN ensures the developments, assesses, coordinates, supervises, administers, and evaluates the provision of health services and healthcare resources. Through education and the interpretations of evidence-based healthcare practices and processes, the RN plays a key role in health promotion, and health maintains requirements. The RN provides clinic leadership particularly in complex or unpredictable patient/client care settings. The support the patient/client. Through their vigilance, nurses act to keep patients/clients safe, identify areas of risk and recognize situations in need or improvement. The RN provides restricted activity interventions and care within the full scope of practice as defined by the college and for ensuring that his/her registration and practice permit are current and valid within his/her scope of practice. This opportunity is to work at the Kaye Edmonton clinic within the Stroke Prevention Clinic and support TCDs on inpatient units (ICU, ER etc).

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well‑being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family‑centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS‑HCP) certification.
  • If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1‑4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.
Additional Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2 years relevant experience with adult population (Neurosciences, Acute Care, Ambulatory Care) as a Registered Nurse.
  • BLS certified.
  • RVT sonography credentials or DI qualification.
  • Requires knowledge of the TCD U/S machine.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Demonstrated excellent assessment, documentation, clinical, organizational and patient care skills.
  • Able to effectively maintain collaborative working relationships in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Knowledge and ability to use computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook is required.
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift equipment of up to 50 lbs; must be able to participate in patient assessments, moving and handling.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods and be competent with computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Connect Care is preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
