Unit 46 is a Medical Teaching Unit with 48 beds whose focus is on care & coordination for acute medical patients and their multi-system complexities. The MTU is a fast paced, ever-changing environment with a strong emphasis on continued learning, interdisciplinary collaboration and teamwork. The registered nurses of Unit 46 are known for their thoroughness and advanced skill set in providing a high standard of care for some of the most acute patients in the Foothills Medical Centre. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Currently working on an internal medicine/medical teaching unit of demonstrated comparable acuity. Ability to learn new skills and adapt to changing technology. Current Heart and Stroke BLS-HCP certification. Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Critical thinking and problem-solving solutions.
Proficiency with Connect Care and clinical documentation standards. Candidates with previous or current experience on Internal Medicine are strongly preferred.
